Laundry room refresh!

So most of the rooms in our house have been decorated. Weather it’s simple bathroom shelves, a little paint, or some wall art. But this room was a room in our home where I always kept the door closed. Never ‘showed it off’ during home tours, and never put much time into. And the more I thought about it, the more I realized – I REALLY need to make this room a happy one! With the amount of laundry I do…(three kids, two dogs and a husband who changes clothes a few times a day really adds up!) I thought it might really change my approach to laundry if my laundry room was pretty and pleasant to be in!

We were entirely past due on a new washer and dryer, so when we decided to splurge for a brand new set, I knew that would be the stepping stone to my laundry room makeover!

Take a look for yourself, this thing was far from cute…
BEFORE

Mismatched washer a dryer, standard white wood shelf, ‘cute’ boxes I tried to hide things in (but clearly that didn’t work) entirely too many half full paint cans, and a few signs slapped on the walls. We decided to splurge on the pedestals for our washer and dryer so I could make the walls a pretty place and be able to store my laundry detergents, cleaning supplies, lightbulbs, doggie goodies and toilet paper all underneath and hidden away.

So here’s my new happy place…

I have big dreams to one day paint and stencil the floors, but that will have to wait for another burst of energy ;)…

Thanks for visiting!!

Yet another kitchen makeover…

Are you sensing a trend here? I kinda like to change things up. 🙂

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED my black, white and teal kitchen. But when walking through the rest of our house, then into that room…it felt a bit like a sore thumb. It stood out and felt a little mismatched.

So I decided I’d change it up and keep the style cohesive with the rest of the house. I said farewell to my gorgeous teal and brought in those warm wood tones.

My incredible husband built an amazing new pantry door and it’s really a showstopper in person. (Our doors are 9 feet tall, so photos just never seem to do the space justice!)

You’ll notice lots of the same things, (uhh cough, Rae Dunn cough) but with some new accents, change in color and a little movement.

I’m SO excited with how it came out. It just feels right. 😉

Hope you dig it!

Kennadie’s 8th Birthday Spa Party!

On Monday, my beautiful Kenna turned E I G H T. It’s hard to believe that number. It feels like just yesterday we were headed to the hospital to deliver our 8 pound, 8 ounce beauty.

Kennadie decided she wanted to have a birthday party with her school besties…so we started brainstorming ideas, and a spa theme was the winner.

I was so excited to plan this cute little girly girl shindig!

We did a cucumber facial, manicures, pedicures, lunch, shirley temples and cupcakes and cookies! These girls had such a blast….and so did I!!

As you can see…it was so much fun! 🙂

the heart of this home.

when we built our house, we put SO much time, effort, design and MONEY into our kitchen. i spend A LOT of time in the kitchen, and i knew if there was a place to splurge – it would be there. i’d had my ‘black and white’ kitchen dreamed up for YEARS, and i was so excited to bring it to life. and although this kitchen is small, it has everything we need – farmhouse sink and all. ❤ IMG_8135IMG_8139IMG_8151

oh what a little paint can do…

i was itching for a change. kyle and i are both wishing for a dreamy solid wood front door with windows, but it’s just not in the budget right now. i’ve been staring at that space at our entry way trying to figure out what i can do to make it pop. so i decided to go bold…and paint the front door black!

a few changes…

so i know you guys have seen the family room and kitchen tour, but i’ve since made a few changes…

after we did the gorgeous walls and i decorated our loft and our master bedroom…i was completely drawn to the warm and cozy feeling the ‘farmhouse’ look brought. so i knew the teal in the family room had to go. i was dreaming of cotton stems, magnolia wreaths, tons of white and small wood details everywhere.

it feels much more ‘us’ now…. 🙂
