{friday house day!} the finish line is so close……

this week was a big one. lots of people in and out, lots of stuff going on! lots of things getting checked off our list!

the shower and tub tile in the master was finished.
11.14.15 (2)we were also stoked to see that they installed all the carpet! for whatever reason, this made it feel so real! so ‘almost there’!!!
11.14.15 (1) 11.14.15 (5)all of our switches and outlets are in and rockin, and our electricity is even on!
11.14.15 (3)they installed our appliances also! now all that’s left in the kitchen is the final trim work and sink surround, and the subway tile backsplash!
11.14.15 (4)
{
we’ll also be installing our new gorgeous black faucet and hardware before we move in!}

and the biggest transformation came outside…they finished our yard, grass, landscaping and fence…
11.14.15 (6){backyard}
11.13.15 (3){front yard in progress}
11.14.15 (8) 11.14.15 (7)11.14.15 (9)
{and the finished yard!}
there are still a few things left to do outside – staining the pillar and accent wood pieces, and painting the garage and front door.

prettttyyyyy excited! they are estimating our close date for the week of december 14th. fingers crossed! ❤

xo, marley.

{friday house day!} it’s all in the details…

the storms have continued this week, and luckily there were a few days without rain, so they were able to FINISH the brick and stone!! they still need to paint the garage, front door and stain the wood post and accents darker, but it’s very exciting to see this stage done!11.5.15

it’s been really dark inside the rooms and bathrooms with no sun in sight this week, so i don’t have photos…but they installed the master bathroom glass shower surround, all the bathroom mirrors, and bathroom accessories.

then today they installed all the light fixtures, recessed lighting and bathroom lights.
11.6.15 (2) 11.6.15 (3)next week they’ll be starting the landscaping, sprinkler systems and sod outside in both the back and front yards, and in the next two weeks they’ll be finishing up the details – ceiling fans, outlet covers, light switches, cabinet trim, and carpet installation!
11.6.15 (1)getting closerrrr……..!!!

our lost babies…{halloween 2015}

it was our first halloween here in texas, and let me tell you – it was a good one!

we were invited by some new friends (and future neighbors) to join the little cul-da-sac block party and trick-or-treat our future neighborhood! we had a blast, the kids were in heaven, and we met tons of our amazing new neighbors! we are so excited to live in a place full of families, sweet people and an amazing lifestyle for our babies. it makes us that much more excited to get in the house!

here are some photos of our peter pan crew…
IMG_5127 IMG_5152IMG_5181 IMG_5282 IMG_5301 happy halloween, from our lost babies, to yours. ❤

{friday house day!} rain rain go awayyyy…

not much to report this week! we’ve had some crazy storms here and it’s caused a bit of a delay with the house action. we had our cable outlets installed and our alarm system set up and wired.

they should be finishing up with the stone and brick in the next couple days…they finished both sides, now they just need to finish the front and the porch!
10.29.15 (1) 10.29.15 (2)hopefully next week, i’ll have more to report!!

xo, marley.

{friday house day!} movin right along…

we have had some yucky sickness going through the house this week, lots of vitamin c, cough syrup, lozenges, antibiotics and tissues all around! i’m not quite sure our bodies were ready for these texas season changes! we’ve got an epic storm that started our direction and i have a feeling it might have an effect the progress on the house this coming week!

we were so very excited to see that they installed our granite throughout the house last friday…
10.16.15 (1) and also my big beautiful FARMHOUSE sink!!!! {all the heart eyes!}
10.16.15 (3)10.16.15 (4)10.16.15 (5){they also had a little mess-up on the bathroom floor tile grout, and they ended up fixing that yesterday, so it’s now the gray it was supposed to be!}

they also added all the sinks, faucets, shower heads and details throughout the kitchen and bathrooms!

they started the trim work and the staircase and half wall details as well…
10.19.15and the stone arrived! which is even prettier in person! so they got started on the left side of the house…
10.17.1510.22.15 (2) 10.22.15 (1)i think next week they’ll be working on our backsplash, finishing cabinet trim, final paint, vents, outlets and all those little details!

we’re getting close to the finish line….just a few more weeks!!!

xo, marley.

{friday house day} big changes!

last week was about walls, and this week was about floors! all of our flooring (besides the carpet) was installed!! unfortunately, i realized a little too late that they cover it all up once they are done (duh!) so i don’t have final pictures of any of it! 😦

they ended up pouring our driveway, walkways and sidewalk last friday! which was super exciting and kind of a relief. we were told that one hold up can be the concrete, because it is weather dependent and they usually wait till the very end of the build to lay it. with ‘the end’ of our build falling in November, we were scared rain might cause some issue. so we were stoked to see it done already and not have to worry about that potential delay before closing.

10.9.15 (1)10.9.15 (2)on tuesday they scraped, cleaned and prepped the slab for our flooring…

10.13.15 (1)10.13.15 (2)and while they were prepping and laying flooring in the house, they also painted the stucco on the outside. we picked a lighter color, and i love how it came out. i can’t WAIT to see the brick and stone we chose against it! hopefully they’ll get working on that soon.10.13.15 (3)

here was yesterday morning’s bathroom tile progress…10.15.15 (1)and when we went by last night – it was all DONE! (and covered) it’s pretty amazing how quickly they can lay flooring!10.15.15 (3)

next up is countertops! yay!

nine months…

today, this little pumpkin is NINE MONTHS OLD!!! {insert huge sad face here}
IMG_5639i can’t believe how fast the last few months have gone. i think having children just fast forwards your life. i remember when a month used to feel like an eternity. and now a month feels like three blinks.

emersyn has been a little well, lazy, errr…on ‘her own schedule’ you could say. weston and kennadie were on the move at 4 months old, crawling before they could sit up, and walking at 9 months. let’s just say emy does not feel the need to follow suit. 😉 but this month she did make some huge strides! i think she woke up one day and decided…today’s the day i’m going to grow up! two teeth popped out and she was on the move! she’s been army crawling for a month or so, and sitting for a while, but now she’s cruising the house and just started standing up against things. she gets this smirk as soon as she gets up. it’s pretty good.

she’s also fallen head over heels for her daddy lately. the whole world stops when he walks in the door. and let me tell you…it’s been a long time comin! needless to say, she’s got him riiiight where she wants him. {wrapped tightly around her tiny little finger}

here are some quick snaps from this morning…and as i tell her every.single.day….i seriously couldn’t love her more. ❤

{friday house day} walls, and paint and doors oh my!

9.30.15 (2)10.5.15 (3)10.5.15 (4){photobomb courtesy of daddy and emy}

then on monday, they installed our cabinets!!!! {which was super exciting for me!}
10.5.15 (2){and also in the bathrooms!}

then on wednesday, they installed the garage door, all the inside doors and the trim. and yesterday, they did the first coat of paint! {sw agreeable gray}
10.5.15 (1)10.8.15 (4) 10.8.15 (3) 10.8.15 (2)
they also finished the stucco on the outside {needs to be painted}, and graded and prepped our front yard for our driveway, walkway and sidewalk!…
10.8.15 (1)
hopefully in the next few days, they’ll be pouring all that concrete, finishing the paint inside, and next week we should get started on flooring!

a letter to my boy.

weston joseph,

my first. my only boy. my heart.

well my dude, where do i begin?

it’s hard to believe you’ll be blowing out nine candles in just a few short months. time just seems to soar by me, leaving me with a million smiles, uncountable memories, and a slight (huge) dream that time will slow down. just a tiny bit. (okay maybe a lot)

i’m so grateful god chose you to be the one that made me a mommy. you’ve taught me so much and continue teaching me, guiding me, and loving me through all my faults. so lovingly making sure i know your unfaltering love for me.

you continue to blow me away in this new transition. a new life, a new state, a temporary home, a new school, with new people, and a whole new set of hurdles. ones you jump with pride and perfect execution. today i met with your teacher who sat and praised you for every second of all 29 minutes i was there. beyond your reading level, math grades, and test scores, she told me stories on stories of how you are helpful, compassionate, brave and friendly. how you seemed to mold right in with people and always seem to find common ground. always including anyone who looks lonely, lost or in need of some attention. confident, but not cocky. happy and laughing, and always making people smile. i sat with a giant smile on my face as she settled all the fears i had in moving here.

but really, none of that surprised me. that’s exactly who you are. you are selfless, bold, honest, smart, and you love this life and make the best of everything you possibly can. words cannot nearly describe the pride i have in being your mom. truly.

i love you, forever. to the moon and back. to infinity and beyond.

thank you, for guiding me and daddy, teaching us how to be parents, and being the definition of true love.

xo, mom.

{friday house day} we’re building a house!

sooooooo!….. a huge part of our new adventure is that we’re BUILDING A HOUSE! weeeeee! i can tell you that this is honestly something we never thought we could do. a dream world we thought we’d never be a part of.

we started this journey back in may when we made the decision to move. we started online dreaming about buying a house, and weren’t sure if we should rent for awhile when we arrived, or if we should dive right into buying. we didn’t know the area too well, but my aunt is here and we had some friends who had good recommendations about areas to live and what would be a good fit for us. i fell in love with three neighborhoods in the area. brand spankin new ‘master plan communities’ as they call them. these places are BEAUTIFUL! they have pools, splash pads, parks, fire pits, community activities, clubs, and amazing schools all right in the neighborhood. i was dreaming of (and almost determined to) find a home in one of these unbelievable places.

it seemed our stars aligned and the ever-so-amazing ‘teravista’ was where we were meant to be. we found the perfect little floor plan, in the perfect little neighborhood, where a brand new school was being completed within walking distance. when we came to visit our new city in june, we checked out the property and fell in love. it was just what we hoped. we signed our contract, picked our lot, and went to ‘deco’ all in 2 days time. we needed to get these things handled before we went back to california, so they could get started on our house. while we were gone, they updated us on the status of the house every friday…so that’s why i’ve decided to continue ‘friday house day’ here on the blog! 🙂

i have a bit of catching up to do, considering our house is drywalled and getting ready for texture. so here’s a little recap of our journey thus far. {sorry, cell phone pictures are what i’ve got…}

here’s our lot, during our mini visit the first weekend of june…just grass, weeds and dirt.
6.6.15during june and july, they were working on inspections and permits from the city, then started prepping our electric, underground plumbing and the pour of our foundation…
6.29.15
7.3.157.11.15when we got to town with the kids after the big trip, we brought them to see their first glimpse of their new house. or, their mounds of dirt… 🙂
7.15.15cables are set, and it’s time for our foundation…8.5.15and now it’s real. our foundation was poured on august 11th, and things suddenly became reality.
8.11.15and just 3 days later, the first floor of our wood framing was all up!
8.14.14so we had a pizza party in it, of course!!!
8.14.15 (3) 8.14.15 (2)
a
nd the following week, the second story was up!8.20.15 (2)8.20.15big changes came quickly and this has happened this month in september…
8.28.15 9.1.15 (2)9.1.15 (3) 9.1.15
last week they did the insulation and drywall…
9.22.159.23.15 (3) 9.23.15 (4)
9.23.15 (5) 9.23.15 (2)
they are also prepping the outside of our house for the stone and brick to be added. it’s something i love so much about the beautiful texas homes. can’t wait to see the things we picked come to life.
9.30.15 (6)and today, our walls are being textured as we speak! i’ll have updates on that and next weeks progress on next week’s friday house day! wooo!

wow. that was a bit of a novel, wasn’t it? if you’re still here, thanks for sticking around. this journey is not for the faint of heart. it’s been up, down and all around, but holy cow is it cool. it’s been something i’ll never forget, and i’m excited for each and every day’s progress.

…and i’m totally that person that drives by every.single.day. :l
